My relationship with Steve began about a year and a half ago when I contacted him about hiring his band, Gonzo's Nose to play at my own wedding. After a lot of emails back and forth, I officially booked them and a few months later dragged my friends Kelly and Mary to finally see them play live at Pentagon Row in Arlington. I had heard great things about the band for years but somehow never actually got to see them during my years in the DC area...probably because I was too busy shooting weddings on Saturday nights throughout my twenties. Anyway, it was that day at Pentagon Row that I finally got to meet Steve and the rest of the band in person. I got to spend the past 2 days with a pretty amazing group of women. This was the 4th Modern Portrait workshop that my mother and I have hosted and the first time we've had a 100% female enrollment and boy did we have a great time with them. Not that it hasn't been just as wonderful having guys around, it was just a different dynamic. :) It was held at the brand new studio in the Noho Arts District that I'm sharing with Ellen Petty and although we don't even have any furniture in there yet, it felt great to have people in there enjoying the space and we 're looking forward to officially moving in this weekend. I'll post some pictures as we go through the decoration process but for now, I wanted to continue to catch up on blogging all of the engagement sessions I've shot recently. So

I am full swing in wedding season right now so I guess there's no better time to keep the blog updated, right? After almost having a heart attack over my tax bill this morning, I jumped on a plane to DC for a wedding that I have coming up this Friday with my wonderful friend Sara Muchnick from Engaging Affairs. This year is a very busy one for me and I'm actually going to be shooting the weddings of 3 different vendors from my own wedding. How crazy is that? In May I'm shooting the wedding of Steve, the drummer from our wedding band, Gonzo's Nose. In September, I'm shooting the wedding of Andrew, one of our wedding videographers from Monachetti. And in November I'm shooting Sara's wedding. It's such an honor to be asked to shoot the wedding of another wedding professional so it's going to be an exciting
