Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while might remember Abby & Zack from the really fun engagement session we shot at their adorable new home back in May. Well their wedding on the most popular date of the year 10/10/10 was fabulous. I had all but promised them that the weather would be perfect simply because of my (not so) scientific research over the years which led me to schedule my own wedding for the same weekend exactly 2 years prior...so as you can imagine I was quite relieved when it turned out to be a beautiful day. Phew! :)
Jenni and I woke up bright and early to head out to Great Oak Manor in Chestertown Maryland where we got to work with a really incredible team:
Coordinator: Amy Jones of Engaging Affairs
Caterer: Kate Brannack (one of my brides from this year) of Occasions
Tent: Sugar Plum

I can't even tell you how excited I was to return to shoot a wedding at Halcyon House, the very place where I myself was married almost 2 years ago. Halcyon House is one of Washington DC's most unique wedding venues which is probably why it tends to be a popular venue amongst DC wedding industry insiders...for instance, the very lovely Kate of Occasions Caterers. Kate and I had worked together here and there but didn't really know each other so I was both flattered and excited when she asked me to photograph her wedding. For me, there is just no greater compliment. When I found out that her love Simo was Moroccan, well that was just the icing on the cake for me considering that my mother grew up in Morocco and having spent time there, it's a very special place to me. And my oh my, these two

Well since my last blog post I have been to Nantucket, NYC, Haiti, San Diego and Lake Tahoe so I swear it's not my fault that I've been a bad blogger. But still I apologize and luckily have plenty to post about over the next couple of weeks.
So let me take you back to memorial day weekend which I spent in DC shooting back-to-back weddings with the lovely and talented Jenni Green, my favorite person to spend a weekend with aside from my husband. So on May 29th we were absolutely tickled to photograph Cherie and Matt, one of the most light-hearted and fun couples you will ever meet. And their wedding day could not have possibly been more perfect or beautiful or fabulous and all pulled together seamlessly by the incredible Sara Muchnick of Engaging Affairs.

Okay, I am gradually starting to catch up on my blogging. Yay! So at this point we are up to mid-May. The day after I photographed Abby & Zack's engagement session, I woke up bright and early to head downtown to photograph Danielle & Ken's wedding-day triathalon. I will blog about that in my next post but in the meantime, let's get right to the wedding. Luckily after the morning activities, Danielle & Ken and their families had plenty of time to rest and recover before the 9:30pm ceremony at the rooftop at Charlie Palmer in Washington DC. I had never photographed a wedding at this particular venue before and now after doing so, I am surprised that there aren't more weddings up there. Overlooking the Capitol building, the views are absolutely stunning...one of the best views in all of DC for sure.

Abby and Zack came to me by way of the always delightful Amy Guthridge from Engaging Affairs. Now I got to chat on the phone with Abby and Zack but never met them until the day of their engagement session. But Abby sent me some pictures of the new craftsman-style home which they had just bought and suggested that they might like to do their engagement session at their house. And my brain started working. I thought wouldn't it be fun to shoot a sort of "Sunday morning at home" sort of editorial-style engagement session. Maybe even a little retro throwback. It all started to come together when I arrived on a Friday afternoon (not a Sunday morning) and we picked out some clothes and just played for a couple of hours. I loved how we were to use various parts of their home to make it really personalized while
