My session with The McColls had been a long time coming. Gwyn and I met sometime in late 2010 via their friends and neighbors The McGraw/ Pierson family who are long-term clients of mine. Even better, The McColls are yet another client who live close enough to me for me to walk over to their house. Of course I didn't...because this is LA after all, and no one walks. :) Kidding...I might walk if I didn't bring so much gear but I digress. Scarlet and Tula were dressed as cute as could be when I arrived and just got even cuter when they came out decked out in full ballerina garb. I love girly girls and I just think that when they look back on these in 20 years it will make them smile to see themselves all cutsied up in tiaras and just having fun...in their home, with their doggies.

Each year the lovely Horowitz Family sends out a Valentine's Day card and for the past 2 years I have been lucky enough to shoot it. Here is this year's image choice featuring Chloe & Jordan (& selected by Chloe & Jordan, mom won last year). Now their mother Joi loves to be creative with the text side of the card and this year she presented me with this magazine clipping as inspiration. I sent this to my fabulous associate photographer/ designer Jenni Green and she did a beautiful job translating it into a fun card design. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! xo
If you've ever been to our house, you know that Gary and I have a pretty large collection of vintage film cameras which merged a la The Brady Bunch when we moved in together. They stare at me every day as I walk by, begging to be picked up, loved, used. So last month I finally gave in and shot a couple of rolls of film with an old Rollei. It was just too much fun. All of you Hassi and ex-Hassi users understand and probably long for the square format and I must say that shooting at waist(ish) height just makes the world look new again. I plan to start shooting with it more often. I didn't use a light meter, just eyeballed the exposure and gave my best guess and was pretty close most of the time. A good photographer exercise I think. Anyway, here is an image
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! It has started out as quite a lovely day. My niece and nephew slept over last night. Miss Zoe is currently eating waffles in bed watching the Macy's parade, Master Henry and Gary are drawing all sorts of violent "boy stuff" that I just can't understand, the dogs are playing at my feet and I am sitting at my desk with a waffle and a mimosa. So I thought, why not put up a blog post in the midst of all of the festivities? So...here is a recent portrait session I did with the absolutely beautiful and very enjoyable Krell family; Ami, Jacky, Justin & Ryan. Enjoy!
