I just received this NME press clipping from the fabulous Milena Mepris, 1/2 of the band, Pin Me Down who I had the opportunity to shoot a few months ago in LA. This is from the January 5th issue. It should be available on Newsstands so pick up a copy! The magazine cropped off the top of my photo but that's okay, they didn't know any better. :)

What a day we had yesterday! After sleeping in at the Maritime Hotel in NYC, Gary and I hopped a train out to Newark to attend the ultra-hyped Hannah Montana concert. Yes, you read correctly and no we did not pony up $2000 per ticket either. We met up with Gary's sister Jamie out front and then were led inside by my amazing sister-in-law, Kay who has been on tour as one of Miley's back-up singers. For those of you who don't have kids or have been living on another planet for the past few months, Miley Cyrus is the daughter of country singer, Billy Ray Cyrus and has her own show on the Disney Channel. During the opening set by the Jonas Brothers, we were all back in the dressing room watching Kay transform herself from cool, tattooed, indie rock chic into a rosy-cheeked, oh-so-sparkly, ringlet pigtailed teeny bopper. December 21st, 2007Â Yes you read that heading correctly, Gary and I attended Ike Turner's funeral this morning. We sat in the 6th row of an enormous church in Gardena and watched and listened as Ike's relatives, friends, business acquaintances & fans mourned the loss and celebrated the life of a music icon. I must say that culturally it was unlike anything I have ever experienced before. There was a lot of screaming and singing and people running around the stage and people yelling from their seats. Little Richard and Phil Spector both gave eulogies that were both humorous and enlightening about the character that Ike was with a few jabs at Tina Turner for ruining his reputation and at Oprah for enabling the popularity of Tina's "What's Love Got To Do With It" which is largely credited for destroying Ike's reputation. There still seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding the

Goodbye Ike

I just received some very sad news that Ike Turner died today. I don't know any of the details but I thought I'd post an image I shot of him a few months ago while he was still pretty well and poised to make a big comeback.  Â

Any of you out there who watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade last week may have seen my kick-ass sister-in-law, Kay Hanley singing on the Care Bears float. I got to watch it on Tivo when I got back from the spa because we didn't have access to a tv that day...how granola, right? It was lovely to be without technology for a couple of days though. I'll leave out the part of the story where we downloaded two episodes of Weeds on iTunes and then watched them on my laptop. :)Anyway, an article Kay wrote about the problems with our healthcare system was just featured on Jill Sobule's blog along with one of the pictures I took of her. Go check it out.
