I was actually on my way back from Boston where I had flown in for Morgan & Jordan's engagement session in mid-May when I first got the call about Jenn & Josh's wedding. These two were putting the event together in just 6 weeks and could I jump on a plane back to photograph it? Well of course! I have known of Jenn Hudson for a number years through WPPI...where this incredibly talented photographer cleans up on awards night year after year. But it was actually at Mystic 6 that I actually met Jenn and (her) Josh for the first time when Jenn was scheduled to speak directly after me...we met during our AV check and these two immediately made an impression on me as a couple who were deeply and gloriously in love with one another. So although it's insanely nerve-racking to photograph the weddings of other photographers, it

Can you believe that Michelle was my first redhead bride? At least as far back as I can remember. (My sincerest apologies if I photographed your wedding a gazillion years ago and you were then or are now a redhead.) But I must be in some sort of special club now because I have found that they are now coming out of the woodwork...redheads that is, or auburn if you prefer. :) Many many years ago, in a different century (this is true), I once got it in my own head that I would look great with red hair. The problems with that idea were thus: 1. Having freckles is not enough to offset having dark, Brooke Shields-esque (read: thick/ bushy) eyebrows, 2. I had previously decided to be a blonde, 3. I was in college therefore poor and decided to dye my own hair, and 4. I was just
I must say that Lisa & Jon were one of the most darling couples I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. And their wedding was like a perfect storm. Stephen Gosling, my awesome 2nd shooter for the day commented that it was the most beautiful wedding he had ever seen. The threat of rain had nerves on edge early in the day but as soon as these two saw each other for the first time, none of the worry seemed important or worthwhile anymore. It could have stormed and rained all over these two (it didn't) and I almost wonder if they would have even noticed. The mutual respect and total gaga admiration between Lisa & Jon was so apparent you almost felt like it was a tangible thing you could reach out and touch. Lisa was probably one of the most excited brides I have ever seen...and Jon's
I met Laura & James on a Thursday, the day of their intimate yet exquisitely stylish wedding and it was love at first sight/ sound...for me. Not only did they turn out to be a stunning couple, but I also learned that they both have the most adorable british accents...and don't ask me why but I love English people. Perhaps it reminds me of my own English heritage...or perhaps it's the dark, self-deprecating sense of humor but I am this close to wallpapering my house with the Union Jack. But I digress. Not only are Laura and James cute and funny but they are kind-hearted and so deeply in love...with one another and with their families. It was such a pleasure to spend the day with them at The Parker in Palm Springs. I was equally delighted to spend the day with their fabulous coodinator, Fancy Nancy and wedding
On a rather ominous-looking Sunday afternoon, the clouds parted, the sun came out and I met Kendall & Keith at Glen Echo Park for their engagement session. Since we had never actually met before, the 3 of us sat down at a picnic table for a chat and it wasn't long before the laughs were flowing and they had completely charmed me. Kendall, I must say that you write some of the most appreciative emails I have received. So excited to see you both again in November! And thank you to Jen Stiebel of SoCo Events for hooking us up. It was just like a blind date gone very very right.
