When Catherine & Robert asked me to shoot part of their engagement session "on a bench downtown", I thought they were referencing the now famous 500 Days of Summer bench where I shot last year with Jay & Mike. Catherine's response of "no, it's far less romantic than that" made me smile. These two simply wanted to revisit a set of benches in the courtyard between two rather non-descript office buildings where their romance had initially bloomed. I thought it was a sweet and personal thing that they wanted to go spend some time in a place that was familiar and special to them, even though to the outside world, these were just any old benches. You know there are a million and one locations you can choose for your engagement session but I think there's something about that place that's only special to that one couple is kind of

I am happy to say that as of this month, wedding season has officially begun! Tomorrow morning I will be heading to Palm Springs for my first west coast wedding of the year at the Colony Palms Hotel. But before I go, I figured it was only right for me to blog my first wedding of the year, Julie and Alan at Meridian House in Washington DC. Since they each had children from previous marriages, this wedding was full of fun little kids running around all over the place. Lots of beautiful dresses and lots of pink. Enjoy! I have known Sara and Alex for a number of years so I was thrilled when they asked me to shoot a few portraits of them before their twins arrive. Any Top Chef fans out there might recognize Alex from Season 5. But whether or not you're a foodie, if you live in or visit Los Angeles, you must be sure to swing by Sweetsalt Food Shop in Toluca Lake which is owned and operated by Sara and Alex. It is one of my absolute favorite lunch places in the area and the food is always super fresh and simple yet always full of interesting flavors and combinations that would never occur to me but always work perfectly. And I feel so lucky that it is only a couple of miles from my house. Yay...hmm, now I'm getting hungry. Can't wait to meet those babies you guys!
Boy do I have a deal for you! I am SO excited to announce that my awesome friends Andrew & Emily, creators and directors at Stereo Waltz Films are celebrating the launch of their new website by offering the most amazing deal EVER! If you book them to shoot your Los Angeles area wedding by April 15th, they will shoot your wedding for a mere $1000. Andrew was one of the amazing artists behind my own wedding video. My session with The McColls had been a long time coming. Gwyn and I met sometime in late 2010 via their friends and neighbors The McGraw/ Pierson family who are long-term clients of mine. Even better, The McColls are yet another client who live close enough to me for me to walk over to their house. Of course I didn't...because this is LA after all, and no one walks. :) Kidding...I might walk if I didn't bring so much gear but I digress. Scarlet and Tula were dressed as cute as could be when I arrived and just got even cuter when they came out decked out in full ballerina garb. I love girly girls and I just think that when they look back on these in 20 years it will make them smile to see themselves all cutsied up in tiaras and just having fun...in their home, with their doggies.
