I almost cried when I ready what Sarika & Prabhu wrote about me on their wedding website, it was just so so sweet.

Picking a photographer is somewhat of an intensive process. We came up with a list of our top 60 photographers located both in California and Washington DC and slowly whittled away until we came up with our number one. Which unsurprisingly was the first one Sarika found and contacted, Justine! It was so important to have someone we felt we could be friends with, someone that was able to capture the emotion as well as the moments of the day and most importantly, capture the essence of us. We are absolutely stoked to work with Justine!!!

I must say that I certainly feel as though we have become friends over the past year. These two are some of the loveliest, most gracious people I’ve ever met and it was such an honor for me to get to spend not just one but two very important days with them and their families.

The first wedding was held in San Diego, near where Sarika grew up, but since the couple now lives in Washington DC (where I’m from), they also had a big celebration for their DC friends and family about 2 weeks after the actual wedding. But I’ll get to that one later. Today’s post is all about the big, colorful indian wedding that took place at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel, coordinated by the truly amazing Liz Beck.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a real thing for little dogs. Dolce and I have a real love affair going, he even sported a bow tie and walked (ran) down the aisle.

Loved the colorful parasols Sarika got for her bridesmaids. When there is no bouquet, it’s always helpful to give a gal something to hold. :)

The first one may be my favorite image of Sarika & Prabhu together. This is just “them”.

Sarika & Prabhu share a love of movies so they incorporated things like movie tickets in popcorn for escort cards and movie posters in place of table numbers. Black feathers incorporated into the floral centerpieces and a color palette of black and red brought elements of glamour to the reception space.

Sarika & Prabhu performed the most incredible first dance followed by various dance numbers by family and friends. Certainly no lack of entertainment here.

Since there is no ring exchange during a traditional indian ceremony, the couple instead exchanged rings at the end of their dance.

I don’t know if they’re called anything specific, but those gemstones above her (perfectly shaped) eyebrows are beautiful! Such a vibrant wedding!

  2. I love all the excitement of this wedding. Beautiful photos! I especially love the way the wedding party photos turned out with the parasols. How do you figure out how to arrange people for the group shots? I always struggle with ideas…
