During my last trip to DC, I photographed the engagement sessions of 3 couples, none of whom I had met before the day I shot them. Now sometimes it’s tough to get into a groove when you shake someone’s hand for the first time, say “nice to meet you” and then ask them to be themselves and share some very intimate moments with you. It’s a challenge but one that I always look forward to, even if it scares me just a little bit.
So when I met Cheri & Trop a couple of weeks ago in Cady’s Alley in Georgetown for their engagement session, they walked up to me coffee in hand and I was immediately at ease. I thought, hey…I thought I’m the one who’s supposed to be making them feel comfortable. So we spent the next hour or so bumming around near the Potomac and eventually had to go get a beer together. These two definitely knew how to have fun in front of the camera as you’ll see…they would literally have done anything I asked them to. So I’m very much looking forward to their wedding next May at Woodend, another wedding with my great friend Sara Muchnick.

My thought was “oh, cool let’s get the helicopter in the background of this one”…I didn’t find out until later that it was actually Marine One which may or may not have been carrying President Obama. I tried zooming in to see if he was waving at us through the window.
Okay, I’m not responsible for this one. The direction I gave them was “go stand by that bike & pretend it’s yours”…actually sitting on it was their idea.

These pictures were fantastic! As the future mother-in-law and current mother -of-the-groom, I cannot pick out my favorite I loved them all! Really looking forward to the wedding pictures.
My son is a lucky guy! Cherie looked beautiful. Enjoyed the video and looking forward to a great wedding.
Great pictures! Can’t wait for the wedding!
