I just received a comment from Gary basically begging for me to update this blog. I'm sorry I've been MIA, I haven't been intentionally neglecting the blog, I've just been in DC for the past week preparing for and teaching the first ever session of The Modern Portrait, a 2-day workshop for photographers. I practically collapsed out of exhaustion today. But we had the most wonderful and talented group of photographers there with us. There were a number of locals from DC, Maryland & Virginia as well as people who traveled in from Brooklyn, Westchester NY, Philly, North Carolina, Atlanta & Knoxville TN. I miss you all already, just like I said I would. Here are a couple of images I grabbed during the seminar. Guest speaker, Sterling Hoffman & my mother talking to the group Here we all are, minus Cyrus who shot this picture & Juan Carlos who sadly had

I was just sorting through some wonderful images shot by Maria & Drew who 2nd shot for me at Ashley & Tim's wedding and I came across this picture of me, hard at work. I'm not sure if this is my "confused" look or my "sexy" look but I thought it was sort of funny. For the photographers out there who have been asking about my lighting set up at receptions, you can get an idea from the camera I'm holding. It's a combination of the Gary Fong Dong on-camera as well as the pocket-wizard on the side of my flash that fires 1-2 alien bees in the balcony (when there is one).

Yes that's right folks, my amazingly talented website designer, Tea is going to be visiting all the way from Perth, Australia in May. She designed my website and this blog yet we have never actually met...or even spoken on the phone for that matter. She announced this trip in a mass email to I have no idea how many people and at the same time announced to everyone that she'll be here for my *gulp* 30th birthday. I have been calling it "turning 20-10" for months now hoping that no one would notice that I was entering an entirely new decade. I know it's no big deal but still, I feel like I've been in my twenties for so freaking long that I sort of thought they might just last forever. Or maybe it was the fact that when I moved to LA, I decided to turn 22 again. Isn't

Hey everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I am having some issues with my email this week. If you have written me and I haven't responded, I apologize. It's not on purpose, I know I'm just missing a lot of my emails. I'm trying to get it all sorted out though ASAP. If you've tried to reach me and I didn't respond, please leave a comment below and I'll get in touch with you. So sorry for the inconvenience! Justine

Just wanted to give a shout out to my best pal, Kelly Hoffman who turned the big 3-0 today. Happy Birthday Kel, I miss you!
